Trish -
I love the first one! That poor baby egret, looks like he was a little over blessed in the wing department. Great shot.

Hi Gayle,
Thanks. I wish it had better clarity, but I like it anyway. I think I got a few keepers and am pretty happy about that! Lucky you!! You get to go to the farm so frequently!

Trish,
All I can say is "MOMMY I WANNA MOVE TO FLORIDA NOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...."
Number one is just great, I mean it's hard to capture a moment like that with humans and to have a picture of a bird that can express something like that is great.

good gosh, that first one is great! I had not noticed those poor heavy wings, before.
They are all good.
I have seen bird pictures, in the last day or so, they looked like baby photos where only part of the baby is photographed. Great art shots, a whole new way of looking at things.
I think the rookerys, the good ones like in St Augustine, will open up that type of shooting. (There will be more variation with different directions and more choices.)
There is going to be a place for it all. The wildlife preserves on many acres and the more educational and people friendly places like you all have. What I think is the access for the handicapped must be huge! It opens up this world to people who had no access at all, before.
I, personally found it difficult with babies, and I don't think I could do better with birds. I would like to try.
I was planning on going to "my" egret place. Bill said about 4 PM we could leave. I thought that was great, until I realized that rain is coming, haha. I told him we will go anyway.
I still don't know how often I need to check these chicks for changes, and the nests for egg openings. (new chicks)
ginger
(We have seen how rain looks in Yosemite, I wonder about out in the open at a wildlife preserve type rookery)
In the news, they are hyping lots of hurricanes. Scary.

Thanks ginger. The birds are wonderful to shoot. The rookery in St. Augustine is as "natural" as a rookery can be. The only "un-natural" aspect is the boardwalk that was built to view it. The birds nest around where gators are because the gators keep away the prey. The alligator farm was built around a swamp where gators normally gathered. Very cool to be able to enter this natural habitat via the boardwalk!

Thanks Steve. they ae so beautiful..the cattle egrets. Their breeding lure colors are so vibrant...... I keep trying to get used to my camera and the lenses. Thanks to my good friend harry, I am feeling more comfortable each shoot. I used my 70-200 w/ 1.7TC. I am very pleased with this setup and got some excellent shots.
