Im processing some of my shots in 'RawShooter' & whilst most shots need a little shadow...hightlight..exposure..saturation etc etc ...occasionally i need to use a little slider in the prog called 'Fill Light'

It will lift maybe a bit of detail in a distant rock in a landscape. I have used this before & know it can have some crappy effects on a photo if used too strongly but i was wondering if you experienced guys will use it occassionly to help out or is it considered 'Taboo' in the world of RAW procesing ?

i don't use raw shooter so i cannot say ... but 'gus .. in general... most things done lightly are ok .. try it out, and then view the shot at 100% size... looking for any hinky areas...
