Thank you DGrin Yosemite photogs!

Hi DGriners,

I just want to take a moment and thank all those who went to, and shot photos of Yosemite, and have shared them here with everyone. If you would have asked me a year ago about Ansel Adams, The half-dome, El-Capitaine I would have :scratch and thats about it... :dunno I must admit I've been studying Ansel now for a few months, so it wasn't like I wasn't aware of the park when you'll left. But, since viewing your shots I'll say that they are inspiring, very inspiring. I've tried to (and am still going) view all of them, but it's daunting for the sheer volume and beauty. One bite at a time...

Can I make a blanket statement of thanks? Can I thank ALL who share and continue to share in these absolutely breathtaking and spectacular photos? It is now on my radar to someday visit the park, and just see what you guys/gals are shooting. Just take it in. Then shoot the heck out of it!!!!! :thumb


Again my point is that I just want to make sure everyone knows how appreciated it is that you're sharing these with folks like myself, who have never been there and are rather unfamiliar with it. You ALL have inspired me, thanks.

In fact I was thinking if everyone agrees, maybe we should have a mini Yosemite Challange. Everybody who shot there could submit one image they think exemplifies (sp) their expreience. And the rest of us could vote and the winner gets:

I think that's an excellent idea. :thumb :thumb It would give us the chance to practice our critiques, and everyone gets to see the "Best Of" so to speak. Interesting idea in the least...

Muskydude, one thing that really helped was having escorts who knew the good spots. If you do ever decide to go, load up on advice about the best times to shoot at the best locations. It makes a huge difference if you go in knowing what you're trying to get.

if there's one thing I'm happy for, it's the changing weather... I think I've got 2 entirely different kinds of Yosemite on my Xs Drive!!!! Although the rain can be a PITA, I still say, looking back of course, that it was a good thing!

Only up to 800 of 1300 processed.....or there abouts. Man am i glad to see some san/fran shots coming up to do though.

I gotta find a faster way.

Have you looked at elements 3? you could d/load it and try it for the trial period.
My attempt at workflow is easier with this. All of the photos are cataloged by the browser part. open the photo you want to edit in standard edit, if it is raw the raw page opens automatically, there are auto settings for raw which do me fine ( I know this is heresy :rofl ), then click on ok and you are put into the edit page where you can add contrast, saturation and sharpening. It isn't too expensive, about €100. It doesn't have the features of Photoshop CS but it's not bad and a lot cheaper. Just a suggestion. I got a good book also by Scott Kelby which takes a bit of reading but has some excellent advice.

Shay.No mate...its the humming & harring over colours/settings/contrasts etc in each shot thats killin' me.
