View Full Version : Something Different
GREAPER

As I travelled with the great folks from Dgrin (Thanks for driving us everywhere Ian) we stopped to shoot in location after location. The scenery was spetacular, and I shot lots.
But everywhere we went I was consiously thinking about finding something different. I thought that 40 of us are going to the same places and seeing the same things and the last thing I wanted was pictures just like everyone elses, so I did a lot of experimenting. I did a lot of isolating single elements in a scene, and I did a lot of faceing the opposite direction as everyone else.
Sometimes this worked out well. Other times, not so much, but I wanted to share a few of these "different veiws"

I really like these, especially the last three. I love different takes on a familiar theme (or scene). Creative, and well done. :clap

Good job Greaper. I have a few different ones as well. I will post later, after the memory of your "good different" shots have faded from the Dgrin collective memory. :D

Weren't those pine needles beautiful in the setting sun? I like the rock and texture shots too.

Very nice Greaps :thumb :thumb Love those REDwoods :clap :clap
I know what you mean about trying to capture something unique in a group of 40 people shooting the same scenes :rolleyes I tried IR and it almost worked....lol
Anyhow, I like what you did here and to my eyes you were successful :thumb

Thanks everyone.
Those pines were RED! I though I would get comments that they didn't look right because they were so red, but it was sunset with nice orange light on them and they were really red to begin with.
Post them up Sam, I wanna see em.

I think I saw you shooting the first and fourth frame. Always good to look behind you as well as in front of you, too. I was looking for something different too, but was not as successful as you were. I did find two scenes of the forest that I thought were interesting.

PF, I love the dying trees, they are, aren't they? I really like how you captured the fog with them.

Great Stuff Brian, That's one of the problems with Yosemite, there probably isn't two square inches of that park that hasn't been shot to death, but sometimes if you focus on a detail or a reflection in a puddle or a grove of burned out trees you can get something special.

Here are two views that are a litle off the beaten path.
