Hi. I really like the slide show but it doesn't always work for me. Some of my galleries I can't see in slide show mode, however I can see some of my other galleries in slide show mode. I either get a blank black screen or the horizontal progress bar never shows that it is loading - just a white bar and no progress shows.

I can see other people's slide shows right away with no delay. I am wondering if the popularity of the galleries makes a difference in how quickly they load. I know that mine are seldom accessed but I like to view them occassionally and it doesn't seem worth the wait even for me - I am pretty sure no one else would wait around for them to eventually load.

Sometimes when clicking on an image to view it by itself, I also just get a blank black screen.

Do you think it is just my galleries that are slow? Does the database software give preferential treatment to the the most popular sites?

It is not a huge deal - just kind of disappointing when I sit down to view some photos and it doesn't seem to work well for me.

I have the same results in Firefox and IE 8 Beta 2.

Here is a gallery that I can't view in slide show mode:

Thanks for looking.

I see the same issue you see in that gallery. Full screen slideshow doesn't work. I notice that this gallery has large sizes and access to originals, but no sizes in between (XL, X2, X3). I wonder if it would make a difference if you generated the additional sizes for these images. You could try it by going to the gallery, Tools menu, Many Photos, More, Make Smugmugnous Sizes.

Thanks John.

I tried that but the dialog said that the photos were already SmugMungous. I see what you are saying about the missing sizes, I had not noticed that before. I don't know what to do about that.

You might want to contact Smugmug support then. Clearly something isn't right and that could be why the slideshow has issues too.

OK, thanks for your help.
