View Full Version : Some winter hovers

Found two hoverflies enjoying a little bit of sun (and some sugar/honey/spirullina mix). Episyrphus balteatus and Syrphus ribesii. In both cases I managed to shade the hovers with my body/camera without disturbing them too much.
#1 single shot, #2 two shot focus stack

Great shot Brian, I really do like the second one. I don't know where you find them. There has been nothing around here for ages.

Thanks for the comments all :)
Bob - I cheated slightly by spraying a camelia bush with some sugar/honey/spirullina mixture. As long as the bush is in the sun, it seems to attract some bugs.
