I looked at the pic before i read & thought ...now that has to be southern QLD / northern NSW. The jacarandas have finished now & its time to photograph the pointcianas.

Nice shot.

Hey Dave, is that purple natural or aided by a wee bit of post production work? Amazing pic.

Hello There,

Only very slight adjustment , contrast and saturation.
I can still see that image implanted in my brain, I had just pulled into the driveway of the homestead, I said to my wife Holly ??? take a look at this, weak sun was shining from behind the camera and a massive storm in front.
I have a complete series of images that I took at that location, will post others later.

Cheers
David.

I grew up on a street lined with jacarandas. Absolutly amazing when they all were in bloom.

Hey Dave, is that purple natural or aided by a wee bit of post production work? Amazing pic. Waxy ...they are every where here & flower about sept-oct. Some towns have them lining the entire streets & they look great. Best bit is that when they drop their flowers they pop when you run over them.

Hi There,

Yes they are very beautiful, I have a large Jacaranda tree next door to me,
Heard on the radio that Grafton NSW Council intend to chop all the Jacaranda trees down and replace tham with paperbarks.

I am sure the will be a huge outcry from the locals, the Jacaranda Festival brings lots of money to the town each October.

Dont know where these guys get their ideas from?

Regards
David.

I political circles, they're just "floating the idea" :)

I think they're nice. The Council may think they are non-native. Just like
Eucalyptus trees are here in California (man, they burn hot and fast when
they burn!). Not to mention they usually fall in a big wind.

I really do like the original picture.

I alway wondered how you blokes ended up with our trees...wood chip plantations i suppose....there are a lot in south africa also. They burn like all hell due to the large amount of oil in the leaves. Toasted Koala anyone ?

I hadnt heard about this...i suspect it is a tale. There is no reason that i can see that you need to remove those trees. I travel through there a few times a year & always look fwd to seeing them in bloom. It would be a national disgrace if they were touched.

Hi Humungus,

My wife and I were camped at Wooli near Grafton, heard this on 2GF local AM station, If they did this it would be a disaster, I could not believe my ears.

David.

It would. But what's the reason they've given?

Also, something I forgot to mention about the photo is that great
porch on the house. It just begs to be sat on with a book or to just
admire the sceanery!
