5D MII EXIF data question

Curious - looking over the fantastic shots with the new 5D MII.

The 5D's sensor size is listed as being 24x36, which is the same as 35mm film.

I was looking at Andy's shots (http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/6674600_8Ufq) with the 5D MII and the EXIF data will show (for example)

Focal length: 92mm (guess 58mm in 35mm)
Focal length: 50mm (guess 32mm in 35mm)If the 5D's sensor is the same size as a 35mm frame then shouldn't the "guess" by the same as the reported focal length?

No, the makers aren't very smart with their makernotes and other stuff. So we have to hack a table to overcome "guess" fail.
