Harry,

You've always done birds very well. But these last two threads from the rookery are OUTSTANDING :thumb :thumb :thumb I realize that shooting "sitting ducks" is easier than shooting BIF's, but the color and crispness of these shots is awesome :clap

As others have commented, love those little ones saying "I'm hungry Steve", no wait, that was Andy.......LOL

I believe you said that around 11 AM, after it was already too late to get breakfast anyhow :lol3 Your decision to miss breakfast wouldn't have anything to do with that package of Pop Tarts you downed, would it ? (not to mention Gus feeding you all those Cherry Ripes :lol )

We sure did some damage to those munchies we brought up that afternoon though, didn't we?.....LOL

Harry, absolutely wonderful Photos, wonderful!

You are sure close! I didn't post my only chick photos from Sunday, because I have been busy:rolleyes . I do one little thing, and then another, haven't finished anything, except the church stuff. Haven't slept.

Have to go see if the moon is there and NOW!

Anyway, my chick photos are at a greater distance. :dunno You will see. Sometime, maybe. The same chicks as before. Other than that, none of my eggs have hatched. Notice I put "mine" automatically.

This is a hell of a life, I agree with that bird!

The first birds, I took several photos of one of those, with the pink/grey coloring, smaller. I haven't been able to find it to show you. But that is NOT OUR normal egret, is it?

Also, did I mention the wood duck chicks. They are paddling around off in the distance.............heck, my whole rookery is "over there" somewhere. If I didn't have that Huffalump tree, in which nothing has hatched by the way, but it does give me hope that sometime I will see heron babies.

Are some of these birds, lots of them, are they barren? What is with this I have? One nest that I can see has birds. I can see other nests, not alot, but enough. and that heron hasn't moved since Dixie was here.

Have a good final part of the week, Harry. I love those chicks, must make one lovely racquet.

Maybe Florida is more conducive to fertility.

Hey Steve,

Thanks, as I said before I'm very lucky to have great locations and subjects so readily available to me. Also Ron Reznicks tutelage has been the turning point for me. Thanks for your kind comments.

As for Andy I know you are stretching it a tad. Andy never says that he is hungry because everybody knows it with him saying it. The 4 bottles of BBQ sauce sticking out of his pockets is a dead give away. :rofl

Harry, on this weekend thing, are you going to the wetlands, or the rookery?

Or are they one and the same?

g
Hey Ginger,

Yesterday I did the wetlands and the rookery and they are two very different places.

I'm lucky because the rookery in St. Augustine allows you to get closer to the birds and their nests than any other place I've heard of so far. It sounds like the chicks you saw are much younger than the chicks I caught in St. Augustine. Those chicks do seem to be annoying. They are noisy as all heck and they just about mug their parents for food when they come back tot he nest.

Thanks for the kind words.
