Help getting started

I have signed up for a power user account, I have added a slide show to my about me page so now I can't use that page for info about me. Correct? I think in order to add other pages/links to my navbar options I need to create a new gallery but when I do it looks like my other photo galleries. I want just text or if I have to use a picture I want it divided into sections like I have seen on other smug mug pages. I think the way the pages work is that I put a photo in and add a comment/description to it(?) All I want is a navbar with Home, About Me, Galleries, Pricing, Contact, Proofs, Guestbook for now. Thanks for any help you all may have.
