Videos from Blackberry have no sound!

Hi all,

I have a Blackberry Pearl 8130 running the v4.5 OS on Verizon. Whenever I post videos from it up to SmugMug, the video shows fine, but there is no sound. If I play the file locally in either quicktime or windows live photo gallery, there is sound. It's only when I upload to SmugMug does the sound go away.

The files are .3gp files, which are supported according to the wiki (http://wiki.smugmug.net/display/SmugMug/Video+Formats).

Any ideas?

Does the video play normally after upload but outside of the Blackberry?

We support 3gp but the file may be using a codec that we cannot support. Most formats are container files that can have many different codecs. Most we can support and some that we cannot. In those cases, conversion before upload is the best solution.

Please see my response to your email. This is a codec issue with the 3gp file. Converting it before upload will fix the problem.

For anyone else with 3gp no sound issues, some of the codecs used are not supported. Convert the file to another format and change the codec before uploading. That will correct the problem.
