My attention has only just been drawn to the new-to-me feature of editing photos with Picnik. (When was it added ?) Many of the recent additions etc haven't affected me personally but I've been playing around with Picnik independently for a while and think its great fun :D:D - OK maybe I should use PS or LR for adjusting my images, but in many circumstances this will fit the bill, and I just love the little extras - adding text etc. Thanks SmugMug :lust

It only went live last night, so you didn't miss it for longI just used your picnik editing for the first time. Ahhhhh ... it's a really nice functionality enhancement to SmugMug.

At first I wondered why SmugMug didn't do an even more seamless integration with picnik (so that you don't even know you are leaving SmugMug). But now that I know about the file downsizing, I can see why SmugMug doesn't want to take responsibility for that. Fortunately (or unfortunately), my digital camera doesn't produce file sizes large enough that it really impacts me much.

Since there's no warning about the possibility that our original files could be degraded by using picnik, smugmug is taking responsibility. I think the reason for a less than seemless (but very nice) integration is that picnik can sell their premium service this way. I'm happy with the integration aside from a couple things... like the filename being stripped when the image gets replaced.

If there's a noticeable degradation in quality, that's a dealbreaker. But I haven't noticed a problem yet.

But there's a big button to save it as a new file -you see that, yes?

Hm. It sure feels pretty seamless & painless to me- but thanks for the feedback!
