This is an available light portrait I took in a cafe in Greece.

I like this photo, but it doesn't look sharp to me, and there's something funky going on with the reflections in his eyes, particularly his left. This may be exacerbated by the compression.
I checked out your site, and I think you have some really wonderful photojournalistic work up there... It made me wonder why we never see any of that style on this end of the site.

Nice to see you again Tom :wave
I am happily going to critique one of your shots :barb
To be very honest I am not sure why you put this photo up here compared to the work I am use to seeing. In my opinion this is far from your best work.
As the previous poster replied- there is a weird focus thing going on here. Appears to be shot wide open with selective focus. The area around the eye is sharp but it drops off significantly very quickly. This makes the eye the focal point but the sharpest part of the picture is actually his wrinkles to the left of his eye.:deal
I feel if the shirt and especially the vest were more in focus the picture would be significantly better. I personally would crop some of the right side off there bye placing the gentleman even more into the right third.
The highlight in the eyes is also too strong and draws too much attention away from the subject.
I am interested to hear your thoughts on this photo as I know there is always a deeper meaning to your work.
Hope to see more from you.:deal
