My 20D was acting up this weekend. Err 99's and 01's. Using a 70-200/2.8L/IS lens. Anyone else had problems? Any cures other than removing batteries and dismounting lens to clear the errors?

Not that I know. I've had the same problems. Sometimes absolutely no issues and then wham, and only with that lens.

I generally get the lock up error more where it shows the aperture as 00 and won't do anything. I've had the err 99 though also.

No problem with IS off. Going to send it in when I have free time (it's been over a year). There have been numerous discussions about this on DP and at Rob Galbraith's ( http://www.robgalbraith.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=248404&an=0&page=4#248404 ) site. Appears to be a problem with the IS function.

Lens is less than 12 months old. And I had IS mode 2 engaged all the time. Hmmm...

Bill,

I agree with Bodley. I've seen way too many posts over at DPR about this lens (and the 100-400mm to a lesser extent) having IS issues, that cause camera errors. It scared me so much that I have shied away from Canon IS lenses. If it were me, I'd send the lens in :dunno

Mine has had several error 99 with my 85 mm f1.8.
I had my very first error 01 on the first day I used my 70 - 200 f2.8; ironically I had just handed it over a friend to admire - and it wouldn't work for him.

I have not done any of the firmware upgrades, and the error 99s are quickly fixed by popping batteries. Not convenient when photographing wildlife, though. The error 01 required me to remount the lens.
