The subject is great and I really like how you caught the moment with the "one" feather. I can see it must have been tough lighting conditions though (and the reason for your effort post-processing)!

The washed-out background limits what otherwise is a great take.

Really a great catch, try a slight levels adjustment to even out the background lighting, and sharpen edges. I think you will see an improvement.

I think the background might work better with a different boder around the image. Especially at the top of the image the background fades into white, but then you hit that thin black border. You might try the image without the thin black border, just a white border. You might even think about making the border a bit larger.

Great shot!!! Was this taken in B&W or was it originally color. If it was color, I wonder what it would look like in sepia? (The browns may add a different look)

Thanks for your comments. I was out of town for a couple of days. That's
why I didn't get back to this sooner.

I was standing at the bottom of the tree shooting almost straight up. I'll guess and
say about 60 feet away.

When I re-did this for ginger in the nature forum, I think it may have come out
better.

And just for good measure, one in color that I could save.

Thanks for looking.
