I've only shot people (outside of my immediate family) in the past because I happened to be at some event with a camera. Here's my first try. This is also my first use of an umbrella. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Very nice.
My only nit is that the arms and hands seem a little chaotic. Granted, my guess is the little one was a little squirmy, but I think this little would help your picture go from "very nice" to "excellent" rather quickly. :D
Nice work with the lighting.

The lighting looks quite nice, and how great to have three very nice expressions! :thumb

I agree. Nice lighting and great expressions. The arms are kind of all over the place, and the dad's leg is right in front of the camera. Overall, minor issues. I'll bet the family will be very pleased.

Thanks very much, everyone! I have another opportunity to do some family portraits coming up, and will definitely watch where the limbs go. Great advice. I've been doing these for free (just the cost of printed). Figure it's a good way to get comfortable with it. Will hopefully start to charge some fees at some point. Thanks again!

Lighting looks great. Have to you tried to crop landscape and just focus on the faces and then have only the mom's holding the baby's hand? That might help your hand and dad leg problem
