Hey Baldy -
Have you been talking to Scott Kelby lately?
In his new book on Photoshop CS2, in the section on Configuring Photoshop for Adobe RGB he says "...you only want to make this change if your final print will be output to your own color inkjet. If you're sending your images out to an outside lab for prints, you should probably stay in sRGB - both in the camera and in Photoshop - because most labs are set up to handle sRGB files..."
Sounds like you might be making some progress.
See you later, gs

Halleluja! That makes my day.
I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I notice some labs are now offering to convert from Adobe RGB to the printer's gamut (close to sRGB) when they sense an ICC profile. I sent EZ Prints a note asking for this.
But actually... Photoshop senses what color space the file is in whether it has an ICC profile or not, and gives you a chance to convert.
If we could auto convert to sRGB and put in a help section why we do that, it seems better than explaining why your prints (and web display) will be nasty if you didn't know about doing it yourself.

Where did someone get that book now? I went to Amazon and Overstock. It comes out in August. I can order it now, have the 20.00 that overstock is selling it for deducted now, to guarantee a 10.00 lower price than amazon.
Did one of you get ahold of an advance copy, or does someone have it? Does the book appear of value, other than the info there? I mean what does he cover? Tech terms messing me up again.

I have this book for Photoshop CS, and love it although the "funny writing style" makes me unable to read for longer periods of time in it. But it's chock full things that made me appreciate PS CS a lot more. I am still wondering if I'm willing to spring EUR 800 to get both my WinXP (upgrade from CS) and Mac OS X (upgrade from PSE) up to PSCS2, but if I do, I'm sure I'll update the book as well.
