a customer wants to purchase an 8x10 of one of my photos...when she chooses the item it crops...and cuts off part of the childs head...WHY?? what am I doing wrong. photo was cropped and retouched in ps befor uploading to smugmug...???:dunno

Can you post a link to the photo? If, as many dSLR photos are today, your photo was one with a 2x3 aspect ratio, then the non-cropped sizes for that photo are 4x6, 6x9, 9x12. Unfortunately, an 8x10 results in some of the most cropping of any size. In order to fit a 2x3 aspect ratio image into an 8x10, you have to crop 17% off the ends of the photo.

In the Smugmug cart, you can adjust which end the crop comes from or how much from each end. If you can't afford any crop from one end, you can take it all from the other end. You can also order the image with no crop. This will fill the 10" dimension, but only be 6.66" wide (a 2x3 ratio). If you have the original image and can post one that is not cropped as much, then you can probably make an 8x10 out of the original much better. Cropping a 2x3 ratio tightly before uploading makes it nearly impossible to get an 8x10. Leave a little extra room around the edges before uploading and it's easier to get an 8x10 out of it.
