Hi I'm looking for advice on equipment for taking photos of the moon.
I have a Canon Rebel XTI coupled with the Canon 70-300mm IS lens. The pictures I'm currently gettting look pretty good but I would like a reasonable option to zoom in even closer.

Don't forget, we all have access to one of the most powerful telescopes ever conceived, the Hubble Space Telescope.

Here is Copernicus as imaged by the HST (about 2.4MB):

The second image is resolving detail down to about 1 American football field across. Not bad for about 240,000 miles away. (384,400 km)

so when are they going to prove they went to the moon? (not that i know one way or the other)
