I came across a open source (Free) shopping cart that looks very promising and also is quite easy to configure once you have it setup...my hosting provider had it available to install...so nothing to do from this perspective on my end...hostmonster.com is my hosting provider and the shopping cart is www.opencart.com

If you know HTML and CSS, you can have this fully integrated with your site in no time...it also offers coupons and paypal support.....

It doesn't seem to support multiple variants of on item ..
like when you want to sell an image in different sizes.
