We don't seem to get nice weekends here anymore. Anyway, I wanted to get out this morning so Ben the Boston Terrier and I hiked up to Purgatory Falls in Milford, NH.
With the rain and fog, it was hard to take good pictures and I have a bruise on my bum following a slip on a wet tree root. (Ben the Boston just laughed).
Despite all the problems, I did get this picture of the falls, which I rather like. Makes a change from the peaceful canal photographs I took yesterday.
The rain/mist creates an interesting light.

Here's one more - from a footbridge over Purgatory Brook

Both are made from two RAW conversions. One exposed for the trees/rocks, one for the white water.

Ah, the foot bridge, I was wondering what was at the top in the first one.
I like your results in the second one, the first reminds me of a cold damp day.

Thanks for sharing,
Al

Al There's a good reason for this - it was both cool and wet. :D

The footbridge is actually about a mile upstream and looks over another system of falls. There are a couple of these rather flimsy bridges. Ben the Boston does not like them at all.

I like both.

I don't like the soft edge you've put on them.

I also think that the first one needs more black--there is no true black in your image, and there should be, IMO.

Beautiful spot. Don't know if you were looking for comments, but there you go.

Beautiful spot. Don't know if you were looking for comments, but there you go. Thanks for the input David. Looking again at the first image, I agree with you about the black. I went back, added a black point and I really like the effect - the image seemed to come to life.

What do you think?

Much better. It does come to life.
