At our local (small) zoo. Used a 75-300 IS USM tele-zoom. I'm lovin' it!!! Cropped quite a bit (thank goodness for those 8 megapixels!) and removed some background stuff then downsized and USM. Voila!

Tiger shot through metal mesh netting style "fence". Loving the ability to blur out foreground and background and get the subject in sharper focus. Some cropping, downsized + USM. Drebel XT w/75-300 zoom lens again.

Great work, I agree with everyone else, the Flamingo is a winner. Not only should it find its way to a wall but I would be looking for contests to enter it in too.

Maybe I should dust off the printer and try firing it up, eh? I almost never print my pics, (isn't that terrible?). I just feel a bit weird to have my own photos on the walls, but I'll try to work on that issue, LOL!
Thanks!

Your kind comments mean a lot to me, you guys. I really just got lucky this time. Most of my photos do not get raves like this, so I'm a bit flabbergasted. I could actually "blame" the camera for my success here...it almost takes the picture for you! I've yet to need to do any color or exposure adjustments on pics from my new XT. I'm really glad I got it now, after so many months of mental wrangling over the decision. Can I say it??? DSLR's ROCK!!!!!!! Can't believe it took me soooooo long to get one, but now I'm hooked.
I still like my Sony 828 and I'm keeping it for times I don't want to get the XT in situations where it might get banged up (the Sony is built like a tank!), so it will still have a place in my bag. But it sure is nice to not have to deal with noise, exposure, color and focus issues. And gee..that super clear and bright viewfinder on the XT makes focusing so much easier. And I'm even getting used to body contortions I have to go through to get the shot (if only, if only...I do love that Sony swivel lens/body!). Anyhoo...it's late, I'm rambling...so once again, Thanks!

My thoughts on the first one (please read to yourself in the voice of Darth Vader): "Impressive"
That really is a great shot. :thumb

As some have suggested, I am entering the flamingo photo at a few different online contest sites. Wish me luck (I'm hoping Better Photo will choose it...they have nice prizes, LOL!).
Cheers!
