Do you remember ptnauticmodel.net (http://ptnauticmodel.net/) ?
Do you remember the photos I shot during a meeting of these guys playing around with their boats ?
Well, this time, through my good friend Paulo Simões, I came across someone who is building his own models for the fun of it and also for selling. All hand made.
If you ever interested to buy one of these PM me and I will pass the contact, because I don’t know if he has e-mail.
1. The area where he works,

2. Himself working

Dave and Elaine, thank you for dropping the comments.
I post two more photos which I have done in B&W as you can see.
I am missing the shop of the guy. One of these days I would like to shoot him, some boats and the shop where he sells his models.:wink
The place where he makes the models. They are made from plans which are carefully followed.

And a very dramatic shot of him looking if the hole thing is aligned.

On the contrary.
He loves it :lust
He takes his time...
In this World there are people for everything.
I mean, one can find someone doing the most unthinkable think one can imagine.
Just human nature.:D

Antonio, these are lovely environmental portraits. They really capture the man and his craft (no pun intended) well. I particularly like the third photo in your original post. Could you tell me if you used flash for that or just available light? It looks to me as if it's been lit but I'm probably wrong :)
Cheers

Now that you ask about the light Ian, you make me wonder why is he doing his work under artificial light and in shade...:dunno His shop - which I hope to be able to shoot but no promises - is in the old part of Setubal and the building in front is 6 meters height and is 5 meters away.
So, not much natural light... even on sunny days...
Yes I have used two flashes. A 430 EX and a 580 EX II triggered with a ST-E2. I changed this one from one camera to another when I wanted to shoot with another lens.

Canon 20 D + Canon 24-70 mm L USM + 430 EX holded by José zoomed from top with his arm long up there at 2,5 meters high + 580 EXII against the wall + ST-E2 = Aperture f/2.8 - Speed 1/200 - 100 ISO

Canon 5 D + Canon 70-200 mm L IS USM + 430 EX against a white card + 580 EXII against the wall + ST-E2 = Aperture f/2.8 - Speed 1/60 - 500 ISO

One more thing: I was using for the first time a Justin clamp (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/349147-REG/Bogen_Manfrotto_175F_Justin_Spring_Clamp_with.html ) which is very good, attached to a door at my right, with the flash against a white wall.
The other flash was on a table - the same table where the boat is - against a large white card. So, no direct flash at all.:D
I like the shallow - and "dangerous" - shallow DoF of the 5D using f/2.8 with the 70-200 at 200mm. Confusing ? No ...
