Spotted this blowie on a muberry bush, mumicking a third leaf branch. I think it was ready to explode. You can see the little white maggots on its abdomen. C&C much appreciated.

That is a really cool shot l2oBiN :clap
You were lucky to even see it, it blends in very well with the plant.

Was it laying the magots, or where the magots eating the Fly ??
Is the fly actually alive?
I see evidence of Spider Webbing there too.

It's an awesome shot, gosh I just love it when you folks share your work with the rest of us :ivar ... thank you.

Thnx Skip and tlee. Glad you like it. I think the maggots were just oozzing out of its abdomen. I dont think it was laying them. It was not caught in the spiders web.

Bit hard to see on the pic posted but looks to me like a newly hatched fly- may just have some pupal case bits on it's abdomen

hmm - odd - still difficult to tell what they are- oddly this is a tachinid fly which does parasitise other bugs so it seems to be the wrong way round if you see what I mean.
