Look, I'm a complete ignoramus when it comes to this stuff, so as the answer might be obvious, please bear with me...

Does my password protection on my galleries protect them from RSS feeds?

Yes.

Are you really sure? I've added the RSS feed of the homepage of a friend of mine to my newsreader. I know several galleries of his that are not private, but are protected by a password. Still the RSS feed of the front page shows that "he has updated a gallery", and shows one picture that is from that password protected gallery. If I click on the gallery itself, I get prompted to add a password, so I can't browse that gallery. This means I can't get to all images, but it shows at least one image from a password protected gallery.

I'll double-check, but if so, that's a bug.

Is it possible he created the gallery, uploaded some photos, and then passworded it?

The feed is a snapshot in time, so if it was Public while your feed reader polled, it would get the feed. Then it could become passworded or private after that event.

Or is it that he featured a photo for each gallery, and that they show up like they should?

Don: just let me know where to send you information on this exact gallery. If you need additional info, I can get you in touch with the gallery owner as well. I will not post his URL online, since as long as this "bug" (or user error) is there, his protected galleries aren't 100% hidden as intended.

I don't know, if you need this info to solve this, I can ask.

I am 100% sure the gallery was password protected before the feed reader polled it. That caused my surprise that I could get images from a gallery that I knew was protected. BTW: each time his galleries are pulled by the feed reader, a new picture is showing up.

I've checked, and there's probably something wrong here (bug or user error): in my own galleries, only public galleries that are not protected are showing in the feed reader.

Don, did you have time to look at this? Even if it's true that it's because my friend had images in his gallery before it was password protected, it would be very helpful to get an idea on how to make the galleries really password protected, so an RSS newsreader won't show images from them.

Anyone? Is there news on this issue?
