I have seen tilt and shift lens labeled as great for Architectural photography, i have never used or seen one. But isn't 45mm and other focal lengths that tilt and shift comes in is very narrow for interiors or architectural photography ?

It can be a bit long in the tooth for many, and especially on a crop camera. But it's also all in what view you're trying to achieve. 45mm, on a Nikon crop camera, I've found to be a nice focal length for many views... but not all. YMMV...
