currently my website is cadguru.smugmug.com
I don't want to lose this yet because people still visit this site and buy photos, etc.
What I would like is to change it to aplphoto.smugmug.com, but no lose the old links, etc.
Is this possible?
I have searched and am getting more confused.
I also plan on registering aplphoto.com through godaddy.com, but am confused about that as well.
Is it possible to have the cadguru name redirect to aplphoto.smugmug.com?
And after that is accomplished, can the second part of my issue be done?
Thanks

I believe that changing to aplphoto.smugmug.com would require opening and paying for a new account unless the SmugMug people can work some magic from their end.
The better route would be to register aplphoto.com at GoDaddy then once it becomes active set up your CNAME and A Record as follows:
Forwarding: Disabled
A Record
Host: @
Points to: 208.79.45.23 (SmugMug's IP)
CName
Host: www
Points to: domains.smugmug.com
Then go into your control panel settings ( I believe) and set your custom domain name to aplphoto.com.
Now cadguru.smugmug.com will still work to capture the traffic from people still using it and so will aplphoto.com. It may take a few hours for all the changes to take effect so don't fret if it doesn't work immediately.
It may sound more complicated than it really is. Piece of cake.

Thanks,
That's what I ended up doing this morning.
www.aplphoto.com is now mine for at least the next year.

Is there any other way to make a change besides opening up a new account? I opened my smugmug account because I wanted to start shooting dog agility. So, to be different, I used agilepawz, but people can't find "different".:dunno
I should have thought more about that up front.
Thanks! Michele

You can change your nickname in the control panel to change your nickname.smugmug.com address, but then the old links won't work anymore. There's no way to keep both .smugmug.com's active without opening a second account (although you could make one of them a basic account since you basically just want to keep the URL active, the albums themselves can be on the other account)

Check the last post in this thread (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=95943) if you want two or more domain names pointing to your SmugMug account.
