After three hours in the studio (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=104589) Irina and me took a long hike to Reservoir Rock, we were spent the next two hours shooting around the sunset. Below are a few excerpts.

These are simply beautiful Nikolai. The beauty of the girl with the beauty of the sunset and landscapes is absolutely amazing.

Thanks Ian! :thumb
I guess that's why I like this stuff: having all three beauties combined (girl, landscape, sunset) one can pretty much shoot in green mode with one's eyes closed and still get something nice :-) :wink :rofl

Yeah, she was very much in favor of the outdoor part. :-) :D
Good eye, I didn't even notice the halo.. That's what you get when you shoot lowlight, not much can be done... Flash is 1/250, ambient is like 1/30:dunno

More than I would like to. One time when I had a full load it took me more than an hour to get there and I was pretty much DOA.
Last couple of times I have engaged girls in helping me though :-), so we were up in 30-35 min.

Is that because of the lighting gear? No dolleys or hand trucks?

One of my faves sets from you, Nikolai! I adore 1, 2, 3, and 5, even though I feared for her twisting an ankle and falling off those rocks with those heels. :D

Dude, it's all *very* steep uphill and narrow/slippy/rocky/dusty trail. You don't need ropes, but that's about it.

Thanks, Kerry! :lust
Imagine she was going to climg that rock in heels all the way. Luckily my wifie has the same shoe size, so she lended her a pair. When she saw the trail she was so releived to have the sturdy shoes..:-)

Nik:

These are beautiful. Nice job.

Might want to flag the light on that final shot though so it's not lighting the foreground-- but I also know flagging lights can be a challenge on location.

Thanks, Damon!
I love this place, but I think I'm running out of the views/ideas with it. Due to its extreme cliffiness:-) there are only so many (i.e so few:-) angles/vantage points that can be used without risking my model, my gear or myself (in this order:-) taking a 30..80ft drop.
I may need to take another scouting trip in the vicinity... :scratch

Thanks, Pete!
Yeah, flagging can be troublesome... We're talking about the place where I almost lost the whole light a few weeks ago. Very narrow ledges, very steep slop, very tall cliffs. Bringing even two stands with two sunpacks (and two sandbags, mind you:-) up there means quite some burden. I'd need to commander Ted:-) all the way from NJ to help me carry my Vagabond and ABs, on which I can then put the grids, and the barndoors, and the softboxes, etc.

Exquisite pictures of a lovely young girl. All are quite good, of course, but number 4 really stands out, I suppose because it's unexpected.

Really fine work.
