Hi,
I'm trying to upload a video that's 2:38 min and the video does not show up in my gallery. In the event log it says that the video is too long and the limit is 150 sec. It suggests that I open up a Amazon Vault account. Will that solve the problem? Will it then show up in my gallery and I'll be able to link to it as with my other video's?
thanks!

Same thing happened to me, so I opened up a SmugVault account and tried uploading the same files again using the simple uploader. Same error...if the SmugVault doesn't actually let you get around the time limit, it doesn't make much sense to display this message.

Your video is 8 seconds too long for your account level. As SmugVault files are for archive and not display, I would not recommend an account unless you want offsite backup. It will not allow you to bypass the time limit on the display copy.
The 150 seconds is 2:30 seconds for the power account is a hard limit. Use an editor to trim a little off and it should upload.

Has there been any discussion internally at SmugMug regarding extending the amount of time that power users get for video uploads? I think more and more SM power users are using inferior sites like Vimeo to upload video, simply because 150 seconds is a fairly small amount of time. I find it interesting, particularly because I can have unlimited photo storage via smugmug, but I can't go over 150 seconds. Perhaps a better way to handle this is to say power users get a total of x minutes of video, this way we get to manage our video storage ourself, vs. having a 150s time limit imposed on us. This directly reduces are creative ability! Okay, that statement is a bit of a stretch, but for a highly creative company, one would think a time limitation wouldn't be a positive....I am sure there is a lot more to it that I am not thinking of, but I think many would agree that this time limit is too short....

Yes, you're forgetting about the video processing time :thumb

I knew there was something I wasn't thinking of....so in an effort to educate me, can you let me know why the time it takes to process video is a factor, and what the negative impact would be if the video length was increased? Thanks again for the quick response!

it's a big resource use - computers, servers, all of that stuff :thumb

Ok, so to be clear.... are you saying SM will not evaluate the possibility of increasing the length of video for power users? Or it has already been determined that this is not a valuable use of resources?
