In the league that I shoot, I concentrate on the U6-U12 games. More orders. :wink: I do shoot the U15 and U18 when I get a request from a parent, or coach. I had a couple of those requests for this week;
All with D300, 300 2.8, and 1.4.

Very good stuff - clear, and full of action and expression. I wouldn't change much. A check on the balance (horizontal) might be in order on some, but that's difficult sometimes to guage. Very impressive stuff!

edited: sorry, only #5 appears tilting left.

Very nice! I'm studying these as I'll be trying some U8 soccer soon. Can you share what your shutter speeds were?

Clear, focused shots. You got low to the ground. You took advantage of the sun. You got great face shots. Great job.:thumb

Thanks, Elaine. I shot in aperture priority, so the shutter speeds vaired from 1/1000 - 1/2500. I would suggest that you shoot down at their level. Some use knee pads. I use a stool like this;

I attach it to my belt loop, so when I have to move quickly, it moves with me. Here's some U8 from a couple weeks ago;

Thanks for sharing your technique and more pics! I'll be shooting with a Canon 70-200 f/4 L IS, so I probably won't get as creamy of backgrounds that you got or even the shutter speeds, but I hope I can get something close. My cam is in the shop right now so I tried using a p&S at Saturday's game. Yuck!

Excellent! :barb

Tack sharp, faces, actions, clean backgrounds -- basically, everything that good sports photo should be!
