Juvenile Black Terns

TS Fay brought in some black terns last week. They were feeding over a swollen creek catching minnows and insects.

It was fun. The hardest part was trying to id these guys. My Birds of Alabama book didn't have them, plus they were juveniles.

I tried getting these guys at Horicon and all I got was a sore neck! :D

I got a sore neck, muddy shoes, and a headache trying to follow these guys around! I finally stopped doing that and just pre-focused on an area. When a bird looked in focus, I pulled the trigger.

These are on my list of "to shoot" birds. They are down on the upper Texas coast. Nice action.
