This fellow was found under some bark in the woodlands at Dryandra (Western Australia).
My son and I reckon from toe to toe he would have been around the 100mm mark.
The close working distance of the 60mm macro lens witha 20mm extension tube had me wishing I had got the 100mm as I really don't like spiders :cry .
We call them Huntsmen over here.
Any comments welcome.

I don't like spiders too. Too creepy! Anyway your picture is in a good focus I think. The only problem I see (I can be wrong) is the framing. To close to catch all the creature and too far to be a micro. Is just my opinion.

You know Geoff it's worse when you come home from work and find one of those on your bedroom wall :rofl
That's happened to me a couple of times now, man they can run them things.... but I never kill them, I catch them and put them outside.
They're just an awesome size, I think it's the size of them that pumps the fear into you when you come across one, quite intimidating.
Great shot :clap .... Skippy :D

Huntsman spiders are very gentle things. They rarely bite, and are not particularly poisonous. We used to get them in our old house on the walls. We nick-named them all Harry. Every so often you'd hear someone calling out "Harry' back!!" :lol3
Cool picture :thumb

Lovely capture - Have to admit, think I'd be a bit nervous of those fangs.

What a great shot. I think I like the cropped version best. :)
We have tarantulas where I live but none of the kind in your picture (at least I HOPE not lol) I think I would be in the same position.. I would WANT to take the picture but I am afraid of spiders too so I don't know if I could be that brave. Great shot!

Thanks very much for your comments.
They're a fairly common site over here.
