View Full Version : TRUE ? There's a FEE for IE7 CSS CODING ?

Read somewhere that SmugMug has a fee for Internet Explorer CSS help ? Can't find the fee mentioned anywhere on SmugMug ? Is FireFox CSS going to stay free ?
Are there any parameters listed somewhere as to what colors or web design is beyond SmugMugs Internet Explorer fee capacity so a person could keep everything simple enough to display on both browsers ? Are those limits pretty much the same as the design features available one step down from a POWER USER account ?
Must be another evil Microsoft thing. Is it very recent ?

Can't find it again. Came across it search around for some IE7 CSS help on the web. Probably someone just poking fun at your IE7 css problems. I get the impression out on the web that your some kind of non IE , Firefox site. I could see where that would get started. I was out there on the web googling 'cause there seems to be no support here for all the IE css trouble. Seems like a big issue out there on the web ?
Is there something I'm missing ? I can see where it doesn't matter that much to people like me : just using SMUGMUG like a kind of photobucket, shutterfly type thing. I can just tell people tha SmugMug doesn't function well On IE, But , Pro Photographers ? How do they make sure their clients are viewing their site on FireFox ?
Or do you address this issue somewhere I can't find?
Apparently : IE7 is even different than IE6 ? So That's three different forms of CSS.
No wonder people are thinking up smugmug fee based coding.
Did I read somewhere tha ZenFolio doesn'y have your CSS capabilities ? Or are they more an IE CSS site ? I'll check it out. Or : do you know another site like yours that does IE ? I was thinking of going up to a Pro Account and selling some photos. But I want to check out what browser people are using most out there, Then decide whether to go with a FireFox or IE site.
Thanks for any advice,

...
You will find that most customizing is done using Firefox here and after that's
perfect other browsers are addressed and any "hacks" are applied. Just a
mater of addressing each difference one at a time. This is not a Smugmug
thing, happens on all sites that use CSS I think.

Confused. SmugMug Doesn't seem to address IE7 CSS issues hardly at all. A search on customization support forum of TITLES turns up one page, most of which isn't helpful at all. And that's not breaking it down to IE6 and/or IE7 ? Somewhere on the forum at the moment you are trying to help me with a Nav Bar issue but my questions of how to change the background color of one page so that it's about the same in IE and Firefox are just avoided like plaque. Or given curt, cryptic answers.
Is there another IE or browser css specific forum ?

Very confusing working multiple things at one time. The background is another
issue and haven't looked. Got to find where/thread that was mentioned.:D

The differences between how Fire fox and IE6/IE7 react to CSS has nothing to do with Smugmug. It in the web browser. They are built differently. If you want you site to look the same in all browser it takes a lot of time and effort. Trust me... I've gone thru it. There is plenty of FREE help here and plenty of info if you search. What you will find for sure is a community built around people trying to teach others how to solve problems. In the long run you'll learn some code and feel better after having figured it out on your own. Something about "Teach a man to fish..."

The Bottom Nav Bar problem in Internet Explorer 7. Nav bar in album / gallery / page : 5754468 (dotfur.com) TOO BIG . Problem seems to get fixed (so far ) by removing all the html or whatever it's called from the description box. Just typed in a few words into the description box, " test test, " and the Nav Bar at bottom was fixed. Ooooooo... what could it mean ? Haven't moved on yet to finding out what elements or what in my text box text / html / code / whatever is causing the problem ? All with that bottom Nav Bar has been fine in FireFox. I returned it all : text in description box etc , wrong bottom Nav Bar , etc. State it's in now.
__________________________________________________ ______
album / gallery / page : 5754468 (dotfur.com) called " PRICING " and in the section of my site called " doglit photography" continues to be immune to any attempt to change the background color (smug mug classic black or sometimes I change it to default - a white)). In FireFox, it displays as a gray - which is what I want. Also the text from in the description box justifies all the way over to the left in internet explorer 7 ( IE7) unlike how I like it in FIREFOX where it runs down the middle of the page due - it seems - to some padding I put into my CSS . Not the main issue here. To test the IE7 problems , I took out all the description box stuff, got rid of all the Nav Bars ( nav container in my CSS ) stripped out everything relating to album / gallery / page : 5754468 in my CSS except background color . All those variations would effect album / gallery / page : 5754468 in different logical ways but have no effect on the page in Internet Explorer 7's (IE7) background color.
It's like other than getting rid of all nav bar nav container stuff or emptying out the description box, it just doesn't respond .
It's in Journal mode, It doesn't have any photos in it : just the description box text / html/ code.
I left it in this CSS state : the result of many variations and advice from the forums : it all seems to work wonderfully in FIREFOX : even getting rid of everthing except for the background color code :
.gallery_5754468 #albumDescription {
margin-top: .001px; /* gap from navbar at top */
margin-bottom:.001px; /* gap from navbar at top */
padding: 5px 5px 5px 155px;
}
.gallery_5754468 .myText {
font-family: arial;
font-size: 150%;
color: #DCDCDC;
font-weight: bold;
text-align: justify;
}
.gallery_5754468 .journal_entry, /* hides photos in gallery */
.gallery_5754468 #breadcrumb {display: none;}
.gallery_5754468 {
background-color: #C0C0C0;
~background-color: #C0C0C0; /* IE 6 */
_background-color: #C0C0C0;# /* IE 7 */
}
Thanks for any help,
Marty (dotfur.com)
