Taken today at Palmyra Cove. He was a little ticked that he let his dinner get away. You can see more and what was supposed to be for dinner at:http://www.behr655.smugmug.com/gallery/503180

Very nice Hawk. I might suggest cropping a bit off the right side.

Hmmm behr I think he got cought up posing for the camera, to pay attention to eating and lost it. Thats a common problem for young males of any species. Always trying to look good to attract some girls and they end up loosing their meal.

I find red tails usually won't let me get within 60 feet or so, so yes, I think you were lucky. Your gallery has several nice images of RT Hawks. Were they all of the same bird?

All the same bird. I got over 50 shots of him. I was about 100 feet away when I first saw him on the ground. I thought he was injured because he was hopping around and did not fly away as I approached. It wasn't until he flew into the tree that I realized he had the snake.

No flash, I had great lighting and was shooting in manual, hand held. I use the Panasonic DCM-FZ20
