The link was working perfectly no longer then a week ago, and then suddenly its not able to be accessed.

Take a look at this thread. I had the same issue and I'm trying to get it working out. I have applied the changes but it may take some time for the changes to go through.

Doc,

Right now I'm just playing the waiting game while the TTL updates. Unfortunately that may take 24-48 hours. I have verified with my host (bluehost) that photos.markwphoto.com -> domains.smugmug.com via CName. However when I run nslookup.exe @ the command prompt it still shows my old cname markwphoto.smugmug.com. I'm sure it's just a matter of time. In the mean time I just did a redirect to markwphoto.smugmug.com until the CName is updated.

Thanks,

Keep in mind that some domains will not update your CNAME if you have a redirect in place. You might want to keep an eye on that.

Previously I had my redirect setup like this:

markwphoto.com -> to photos.markwphoto.com
photos.markwphoto.com cname redirect to markwphoto.smugmug.com.

Currently now I have the redirect setup like so.

markwphoto.com -> markwphoto.smugmug.com

photos.markwphoto.com always just had a cname record and not just a typical redirect. I don't think this should be a problem but if it is a problem how I have it setup now then I'll change it.

FYI. I am in the process of redesgning markwphoto.com and have a button link to photos.markwphoto.com cname -> domains.smugmug.com.

The CNAME part is the one that MUST change

photos.markwphoto.com cname redirect to markwphoto.smugmug.com.

Should read photos.markwphoto.com cname redirect to domains.smugmug.com

the other redirect may work but I never recommend redirects. They always cause problems.

Hopefully the CNAME will start working.
