Looks like we may be going to Long Island for a family celebration in May. We'll be staying with my mom. Maybe I'll get to see some Blue Jays and Cardinals, Indian Peace Pipes, Lady Slippers and Mayflowers -- things from my childhood that I remember and don't find out here in California.

We're headed for Tarrytown so I can indulge in my memories of the best and most sinful clam chowder I remember: http://www.horsefeatherstarrytown.com/

Go across to Nyack, and maybe visit a friend or two in New Jersey.

I want to hit the Sunken Forest on Fire Island and visit Jones Beach and Captree State Park as well as Port Jefferson, Greenport and some other harbors on the island.

I can't even remember what blooms toward the end of May...
