20D and auto-rotate

Was at my sister's this weekend shooting JPG's with my 20D and auto-rotate set on. When we uploaded them onto their 4-year-old Dell with some HP imaging software they still had to hand-rotate any picture I took in portrait mode.

How come?

The photo software needs to be aware of the rotate attribute and unfortunately, the HP software being used evidently doesn't recognize this setting. Maybe a newer version is available for download from HP ...
