Was in NYC Sunday and Monday... not shooting for the contest but my Sister-in law, who has terminal cancer put it on her "bucket" list to see the statue of liberty... Sooooo we flew them up from Florida and drove them to Manhattan for a day in a half... Debbie (my Sister-in-law) did see lady liberty and so much more! when I get some time maybe I'll post in journeys... for now these two are my possible choices for splendor... what do you think? any comment will be most appreciated!

I'm quite new to photography but I like #2 a lot. I hope your Sister-in-law gets to keep working on that bucket list. My best to your family.

Thanks Doug, Michele,
funny thing about cancer... you still don't know when it will kill you... you just know it will probably be sooner than later, I think it definitely changes a persons perspective on life.

Sure... The treatment is similar to what Dave Hill
( http://www.davehillphoto.com/ ) does, of course his images are way better than mine... it is a series of high pass filters on duplicate layers along with different blending modes and opacity settings, add a little blur, a little grain, flatten and unsharp mask a lot, or to desired effect... It can be a lot of trial and error... here is one of many tutorials on the web http://www.diyphotography.net/creating-that-dave-hill-look
I play around with blending modes, degree of high pass, ect... some images just don't work... exposure and lighting are a key factor with this type of post process... you can't really use it to fix a poorly shot image...

Sorry to hear about your sister-in-law... :cry My prayers go out to her.
On a side note, that was a very generous thing you did for her. :lust
In regards to the pictures, I like them both.
Best wishes...
