Well 4Labs lead me to believe that Egrets were a favorite around here so I figured I would share a few of the beauties here.
These are all just quick web crops from a batch of shots I recovered from my recycle bin (I guess that means I was not overly pleased with them) but they seem to be ok for web sized use. Personally I would have liked to have had a tripod with me to capture a little more detail but the afternoon I shot these I was sort of playing hooky from work and just sort of found myself at a local wetlands.
Egrets and Herons are both very common in our wetlands along with Stilts and American Avocets. The Avocets are particularly interesting once they start to nest. The distraction displays they can put on are great fun to observe and to shoot.
I find birds to be one of the most frustrating subjects I have ever tried to shoot, I just never seem to capture the detail I expect in my bird shots and have yet to take a bird shot in the wild that I was trul happy with.
If anyone is interested I will also include an Avocet shot here along with a link to some shots of them at the end of this post. Ironically they were taken in the first couple of days that I had my D-70
Anywise here a a couple teasers and the rest can be found in a This Smug Mug Gallery (http://realdealphotography.smugmug.com/gallery/497724)
I figured someone here might enjoy them though so here they are
