anyone use kata bags?

i'm looking at a bag for a second body and some lenses only ...shoulder style... more for storage rather than for carrying about.... something like this... (http://www.kata-bags.com/Item.asp?pid=276&cid=60&perentId=4&ProdLine=4)

any experience with these types would be appreciated...

btw i'm not interested in a backpack as i already have one. this would be in addition to the backpack.. thanks.

I have this one Domke F-4AF Pro System Shoulder Bag
Very nice bag it's my favorite sholder bag about $110 at B&H
I keep a 24-70 f/2.8L 70-200 f/2.8L 50 1.8 Lensbaby and lots of other stuff inside.

How bad is this disease ???

Just having 2 lenses ive noticed that i need a small bag to keep the other lens handy so as i dont have to stop & open the backpack !!

What have you done to me Andy :uhohIt's bad from my seat here in my computer room I can see 4 shoulder bags,2 backpacks,couple of real nice lens bags,computer bag and a few equipment bags.

I have seen the Kata stuff, still not sure what to make of it. It has a look all it's own with the way they have all the different panels and such vs a standard bag.

I am a fan of the Tenba (http://www.tenbagear.com/) bags. They also have some to carry a laptop, did you move to a 12", I can't remember.

Tenba's backpacks are cool too, they have side access zippers where you can quickly access four lens slots without opening the entire bag. They carry a laptop too.

I have quite a collection of bags from the last 15 years, if I become homeless I will be the bagman. :D

To solve my storage problem, I bought a rather large Pelican case. Patch29 very kindly did the pick-n-pluck thing for me - now all the glass and bodies have a happy home.

Pelican cases are fantastic. I have one for my firewire drives for work. That pick-n-pluck foam--looks easy, but man is that something to overthink--and then you realize you shoulda done some other way.

Patch is a pro. He put the stuff on top, sorta measured how much space they'd take, then plucked.

I use the Kata R-102... it is a fantastic backpack and I have had a few months experience with it. Tons of room, ergonomic, has a tripod holder, and doesn't look like a camera backpack. Also, it's built like a tank and can be dropped without damaging your equipment due to its egg-shell like carton.

andy picked up the Tenba p695 pro-traveler (http://www.tenbagear.com/2000_01_p695.htm) yesterday. We will see how he likes it after this weekend. :ear

I recommended it to him based on the amount of gear he wanted to carry and how he wanted to do it. It is a bag I have had around for a long time, but used it to store my Metz flashes, but now that I think about it more I may put it back in service for my digital gear. It is set up very well to hold the larger 1D sized bodies and big lenses. It is also affordable and heavy duty at $200. I have always been very happy with my Tenba gear. :thumb
