I just purchased a used Olympus e500. Well it was said to be used but the thing looks damn near perfect to me. It came with a 40-150 lens and a couple other goodies. I would like to get a "MACRO" lens for it around the 18-50 range.
Does anyone have any experience with this camera? Any tips, tricks, or additional equipment recommendations for me?
Any information would be appreciated... good or bad.
Thanks!

Hey !
I've got this camera for 2 years now and am still happy with it ! (though I'm starting to look at the brand new E520... Who knows how long I can resist ?)
Here is a good site for you to get deep in your camera : http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/43/e500-rev.html
As for lenses I've just added the ZD 14-54 mm (really good lens) and the macro ZD 50 mm F/2... Very sharp and useful for almost everything (never even tried its macro abilities for now). There's also a 35 mm macro (less expensive than the 50mm but less fast). Olympus lenses are very good anyway.
Maybe you'll need a mono/tripod if you shoot inrelatively low light cos E500 happens to be a bit noisy beyond 400 iso (as you'll figure out by yourself soon ^^)
Hope this can help ;)

Awesome, thanks a lot!! Ive noticed the noise for sure. Youre right I do need to get a tripod or something along those lines. I think I am going to like it alot. If nothing else at least its good to learn on!

You're welcome !
Anyway you can always take photos without a tripod... I don't have one either (but it's been on my wish list for a longtime) :D

Welcome to the promised land of Olympus :D . The E-500 is a wonderful camera. I have one as well. I love it. Very comfortable to hold, and great size. The lenses are fabulous. I would recommend getting the 14-54mm 2.8-3.5 lens. It is simply fantastic. If you don't have the $$$ for it, then the kit 14-42mm lens is also good (though not as fast or well built). As for macro, there are two macro lenses that Olympus makes within the range you mentioned:
50mm 2.0: $450
35mm 3.5: $200
Both lenses are EXTREMELY sharp. The sharpest lenses Olympus makes. The 35mm is a real bargain. I have it and am very happy with it. It is actually a true macro (1:1). The 50mm is a 1:2. Both are great. Reviews show both are extremely sharp.
This site has great reviews on the Olympus lenses: http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/showcat.php/cat/7
