I haven't gotten around to getting a proper id yet, but while I was up in Broome (Western Australia) for a conference, I spotted this guy in a tree on the side of the road. Unfortunately I only had my 17-85mm, lucky for me he wasn't too scared of me.

A little too close now...

Still pretty happy with the non big lens results with a hefty crop!
No trip to Broome is complete without either riding on the back of or at least taking piccies of theses guys...

Leaving after having taken tourists on a sunset ride along the beach

The following afternoon bringing the camels back to the beach for another walk.

I really enjoyed these. Great Eagle shots with that lens. I didn't know you used camels in Australia for sunset/sunrise tours, but I may have to come and do that. Nice series :thumb :thumb

That eagle must have been pretty close for the pictures to have it in as much of the frame as it is in. And color and composition in the camel shots are very nice! :thumb

Thanks all for the comments
The camels are a Broome icon and have been doing the walks for many years now, whether you ride or just take photo's they always draw a crowd.
Northern WA has alot of birds of prey and I think they've become very accustomed to people being around.
It would be a bird photoggers paradise
