Does anyone know when Canon started producing the MKII? Or the dates of the older MKI?

When they were last sold as new at B+H I believe they were going for $2500. I wish I had the money to buy and hold a bunch and keep them in NIB condition. They would be worth a lot today, same with the 200/1.8, they sold for $3200 new I believe, NIB would be worth a lot today.
