Hello all. Well, Smugmug was being all Wonka-fied and I had a terrible time attempting to upload this. Missed the deadline by about 3 minutes. Ah well, I suppose that is what I get for waiting so long to upload it. In my own defense, I didn't upload earlier in the day because I was running late for a showing of The Dark Knight in IMax (which was awesome!)
So, let this be a lesson to you all... DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE! You never know what might go wrong.

This image had a lot of pieces come together for me; I had my new Nikon color filter set in full effect in my off camera lighting (blue in an umbrella mount with one SB-600, red in a home-made grid snoot on another SB-600), and I recently had a lens AI-modified so this was my first real shoot with the famous Nikon 105mm f2.5 manual focus lens (more on that soon, I hope.) I also had to add a +1 close up filter to get the lens to focus at the distance I wanted. (Exif linked in picture.)
Anywho, since a lot of folks were going with post processing "filters", I wanted to do as much as I could pre-shot. I did a tiny bit of sharpening and a little level correction, but other than that, this is straight out of the camera. I even held myself back and didn't clone out all the dust, and belive me, there is a *lot* of dust.
I may have missed the actual challenge, but my attempt at participation was a complete success; it got me to not just think about a shot, but to actually do it. Enjoy.
