The takeaway... expect the unexpected. Kudos to Amazon for explaining. Letting people know the cause, resolution, and changes for prevention really alleviate a lot of frustrations.
Things can go wrong, and they do. Amazon never expected corrupt data from within the gossib stream. They got some, and learned from their mistake.
Trust restored? Sure, for most of us.

Thanks for the link - very interesting read. Kudos to them for being open about the problem and, more importantly, letting us know how they will attempt to keep it from happening again.
I'm sure there are other pitfalls that are yet to be discovered as this whole cloud-computing model isn't very old.. At least it sounds like Amazon will be able to reset the system more quickly next time. :D

Very interesting. Murphy rules: one flipped bit and the whole thing went to hell. Every computer person's worst nightmare. They are to be commended for revealing the gory details.
