Hmmm...It is not a great shot. It is a snapshot IMHO. I'd suggest getting lower to some subject and working with the splendid natural close-to-ground plants in that area.

Hi Dan,
I love the name "Sonoran Desert." It brings up such lovely images.
You're showing us what the place really looks like: cacti, shubbery, steep cliffs and wide flatlands. I think to make them more effective, however, your shot should have a more defined and focused subject. I'm not sure what part to look at, unfortunately!
Hopefully you can keep getting out there and capture the desert in all its beauty. :thumb

Your second shot would be much more dramatic if taken with the sun behind you or to the right side to bring out the texture in the rock.
