Amsterdam's most famous museum is under restauration since a few years. And they won't be ready until 2013. This month they open their doors for a few hours a week and for a very limited area of the museum.

I was told it was strictly forbidden to take any photos when I pulled the DSLR out of the bag. So I surreptitiously took my wife's P&S and took these when the guards weren't watching. Reminds me I have to get her a new camera one of these days.

I didn't go in here when I visited Amsterdam a couple of months ago but it was a very beautiful building. I bet it will be even nicer when the renovations are done.

I feel almost sad seeing how empty it looks. I'm sure there were more people there than you captured! :D

This weekend was the first of 6 weekends that the building is open for a couple of hours and they let just a few people in so it was really this quiet. It was a very weird experience.

When I was in Amsterdam twenty years ago, I didn't have time to go to this museum - but I certainly went to the Van Gogh Museum.
Ok, so I needn't plan a trip to Amsterdam for another five years. I'm sure it will be wonderful then.
